Nily Rozic Looks To Rename Park For Activist

Local Assemblywoman Nily Rozic has proposed legislation to rename a New York park after activist Heather Heyer.  Protesting against white supremacists, Heather was killed when known Nazi James Field used his automobile to run her over.

Assemblywoman Rozic would rename Donald J. Trump State Park in honor of Heather.  The land was donated to New York after Donald Trump was unable to secure permits to build a golf course; it has fallen into disrepair after being closed in 2010 due to budget cuts.

The assemblywoman has received racist threats against her and her legislation (which have been forwarded to the authorities) but she has said that these hateful attacks will not deter her.  The assemblywoman is quoted as saying,

In New York, we continue standing by one another and calling out those who seek to divide us.  This activism is not new — it is embedded in our state’s history and re-naming Donald J. Trump State Park would serve as a reminder of the transformative power it holds to carry us forward.
