There will be no EQGW meeting on January 20th (Martin Luther King Jr. Day) but we are having a special meeting on Monday, January 27th.
We’re reaching out to everyone who wants to make their neighborhood better to join together and make a difference. In New York City a lot of local decisions are made by Community Boards, which are groups of volunteers appointed by the borough president. When you have a neighborhood issue, your community board should be there to help. We’re bringing in members from multiple community boards to talk to you about how to get your concerns resolved and how to avoid the hurdles that stop many project.
This will also be an opportunity for you to learn what it takes to become a board member. If you care about how government is run and want to get into the most local level of civic engagement, you might be a great candidate to become an official Community Board Member. We’ll talk about what type of commitment it is (10 meetings a year) and what you need to do to apply (fill out a short form).
As always, this meeting will be at 7:30 at the Flushing Quaker Meetings House
137-16 Northern Boulevard
Flushing, NY 11354
There is a great wave of people who want to make New York City better. Come do your part with some like-minded friends.
