Music Bike Ride this Friday and Save Our Parkland on May 2nd

Cyclists Heard Music Bike Ride

Although it’s chilly now, it’ll be a bit warmer for our easy-going ride this Friday. Come hang out with friends or meet some new ones as we roll through our neighborhood and listen to music.

When: Friday, April 24th, starting at 6:30PM
Where: Middle of Peck Park, at Underhill and 188th Street

Stop The Casino, Save Our Park

A critical town hall meeting is scheduled for May 2nd at 12:30 PM in the PS 149 Auditorium to address the proposed mega-casino, hotel, commercial zone, etc. that will be built INSIDE Flushing Meadows Corona Park. Billionaire Steve Cohen’s disastrous project threatens to exacerbate gambling addiction, blight the area, and permanently destroy more of our parkland.

Taking public parkland for private development isn’t just bad, it’s super villain bad. In a recent episode of the Cyber Chase (a kids program to teach kids math) the baddie takes public parkland and destroys it just to create his own private apartments. Unlike in real life, the miscreant realizes what they stole from the next generation and learns the error of his ways before the credits roll. Steve Cohen and everyone that’s supported him will need to live the rest of their lives knowing they were the monsters in this story.

You’ve seen the many articles we wrote about the abuse of this parkland, a project that never would have happened in a richer part of the city. Now is your time to stand up for your neighborhood. While many elected officials in Queens have unfortunately aligned with Cohen’s interests, we are proud to note the steadfast opposition of Senator Jessica Ramos and candidate Chuck Park. This town hall presents a vital opportunity for residents to unite, learn effective strategies to halt this casino’s construction, and directly engage with elected officials and candidates. All are invited to attend and voice the community’s demands for a better future.
